God! Please oh my God!

Let me tell you about one of my coworkers; A profound devout, every Sundays church goer and proud catholic family mother of three.

This story begin 4 years ago, when her younger son (around 6 at the time) was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). A wonderful news followed by the lay off of her husband from his job, then a few months after, by the death of her father, followed quickly by the suicide of her brother (or sister, can’t remember).

That’s when her older son had behavioral issues and was interned for a time. So 2 years ago she fell into depression and stopped working while, I presume, adjusting to things…

A year ago she tried coming back to work, and that’s when her younger son (with SMA) started acting up at school (violent crisis). She could not manage the pressure and went back into depression.

She’s now been gradually coming back to work for the past 2 months, her younger son now in a wheel chair.

Two days ago, the specially freighted van transporting her children to school was in a severe collision. The younger fell from his wheel chair that consequently fell on him, while the two others were severely bruised by their belts.

(you can’t make that sort of things up, I am telling you…)

So you can imagine how much her life changed since 4 years, drastic and profound changes. Well there is still one thing they haven’t change though: They keep going to church every Sundays! (And you ask me why I am schizoid and atheist…)

So God, please Oh mighty God, can you clean your glasses, see what’s happening there, let the guys south keep dying of hunger, turn north AND DO SOMETHING for this family, PLEEEEAASE!!! Send her back into depression or something, because frankly, I can’t take her whining anymore…

See, this sort of story is one of the reasons (’reason’ being the operative word) why there can’t be a god. If there were one, it’d be punishing the people who don’t believe, surely, and my life is going fine. Perhaps he only torments those who believe. Just to see how far he can push them.
